Wheelchairs and Companionship — Visiting Baghban Old Age Home
The young volunteers sat with us for hours, listened to our stories, and made us laugh. They brought wheelchairs too, but honestly, the companionship meant more. We felt like we matter again.
— Baghban Old Age Home Residents
In July 2021, WMD volunteers visited Baghban Old Age Home in Rawalpindi — not just with supplies, but with something equally important: time and companionship.
More Than Material Support
WMD’s Community Care and Outreach Program focuses on planned visits to welfare schools, orphanages, old age homes, and vocational training centers. During this visit, WMD donated 12 wheelchairs to the elderly residents. But the real impact came from the hours spent listening to their stories, sharing meals, and simply being present.
A Pattern of Care
This visit is part of WMD’s ongoing outreach that includes: donating water coolers to Apna Ghar Old Age Home (July 2025), quality time with elderly at ZUK Old Age Home with NUMS students (May 2025), shared iftar meals with children at welfare schools in Lahore and orphanages in Mansehra, engagement boot camps with calligraphy, storytelling, and painting for underprivileged children, and visits to Agosh Alkhidmat Orphanage in Mansehra.
Why It Matters
WMD believes that emotional support and human connection are as vital as material aid. These visits reduce loneliness, restore dignity, and remind vulnerable community members that they are not forgotten.
You Can Make This Happen Again
Every rupee you donate creates another story of hope. This story was made possible because someone like you chose to act.
